UIMO Mathematics Olympiad Sample Questions
Class 5th Mathematics:
01.The total cost of a bag and a T-shirt is 200, Dinesh buys 4 bags and 2 T-shirts for 650. How muchdoes a T-shirt and 2 bags cost ?
(A)355
(B)350
(C)305
(D) 352
Answer:
Cost of 1 bag + 1 T-shirt = 200
Cost of 4 bags + 2 T-shirts = 650
Cost of 4 bags + 4 T-shirts = 4 × 200 = 800
2 T-shirts = 800 – 650 = 150
1 T-shirt = 150 ÷ 2 = 75
1 bag = 200 – 75 = 135
2 bags = 2 × 135 = 270
75 + 270 = 355
Cost of 1 T-shirt and 2 bags = 355

(C) 1400
(D) 15000

At first chickens : cows In the end chickens : cows
5 : 6 3 : 2
10 : 6 9 : 6
10 units – 9 units = 1 unit
1 unit = 300
10 units – 6 units = 4 units
4 units = 4 × 300 = 1200
There were 1200 more chickens than cows at first.

(A) 58
(B) 48
(C) 68
(D) 780
Answer:
Sunil : 60 units, Manish : 100 units
100 units = 70
1 unit = 70 ÷ 100 = 0.7
60 units = 60 × 0.7 = 42
Manish : 70 parts, Dinesh : 100 parts
70 parts = 70
1 part = 70 ÷ 70 = 1
100 parts = 100 × 1 = 100
100 – 42 = 58
Dinesh scored 58 more marks than Sunil
