ECI Lok Sabha Election 2024

General elections will be held in India from 19 April 2024 to 1 June 2024 to elect the 543 members of the 18th Lok Sabha. The elections will be held in seven phases and the results will be announced on 4 June 2024. This will be the largest-ever election in the world, surpassing the 2019 Indian general election, and will be the longest-held general elections in India with a total span of 44 days (excluding the first 1951–52 Indian general election). The incumbent prime minister Narendra Modi who completed a second term will be contesting elections for a third consecutive term

The election schedule for the 18th Lok Sabha was announced by the Election Commission of India on 16 March 2024, and with it the Model Code of Conduct came into effect. The tenure of the 17th Lok Sabha is scheduled to end on 16 June 2024

How to Register to Vote?
Election commission of India offers online voter registration for Indian citizens who have attained the age of 18 on the qualifying date (1 Jan, 1 April, 1 July and 1 Oct of the year of revision of electoral roll). Citizen, can enroll himself/herself as General Voter and fill Form 6 online at National Voters’ Service Portal. Registered voters should also check their enrollment status.

How do I check my registration status?
Visit https://electoralsearch.eci.gov.in/ to see if you are registered to vote. If your name appears in the list, you are eligible to vote, otherwise you need to register to vote. Visit https://voters.eci.gov.in for voter registration. Also, you can use Voter Helpline App (Android) and Voter Helpline App (iOS) to verify your name in Electoral Roll or register online.

How do I register to vote online?
• General Voters need to fill Form 6. This is only for the Registration of new voters.
• Overseas Voter need to fill form 6A
• For Deletion or Objection in electoral roll fill form 7
• Please fill Form 8 for shifting of Residence/Correction of Entries in Existing Electoral Roll/Replacement of EPIC / Marking of PwD.

What are the requirements to register to vote?
You can enroll as a Voter if you:
• are an Indian citizen.
• have attained the age of 18 years on the qualifying date i.e. 1 Jan, 1 April, 1 July and 1 Oct of the year of revision of electoral roll.
• are ordinarily resident of the part/polling area of the constituency where you want to be enrolled.
• are not disqualified to be enrolled as an elector.

What are the key dates and deadlines?
Voter list is continuously updated till the last date of filing of nominations by the candidate.

How do I register to vote in person?
• You can also enroll offline. Form 6.This form is also available free of cost in offices of Electoral Registration Officers / Assistant Electoral Registration Officers and Booth Level Officers.
• The application accompanied by copies of the relevant documents can be filed in person before the concerned Electoral Registration Officer / Assistant Electoral Registration Officer or sent by post addressed to him or can be handed over to the Booth Level Officer of your polling area.
