Passport Online Application

An Indian passport is an official document issued by the Ministry of External Affairs to Indian citizens, acting as proof of nationality and a permit for international travel under the Passports Act, 1967. It enables holders to travel for business or leisure and is valid for 10 years for adults. To apply for an Indian passport online, follow these steps on the official Passport Seva Online Portal.

Steps To Apply For Passport Online

• Click on the “Register” button on the Navigation menu, fill in the details & click on “Sign Up”.After confirming your registered email ID, “login” to the Passport Seva Online Portal with the registered Login ID and Password.

• Password needs to be reset every 3 months as it expires. Once on your dashboard, click on ‘Services’ button on the ‘Overview page’ or left menu and then click on “Apply for Fresh Passport/Re-issue of Passport” card on the services page.

• Service will be provided at the discretion of Passport Seva Kendra in-charge/Passport Officer. In case of minor applicants (below 4 years of age), carry the recent Passport size photograph (4.5 X 3.5 cm) with white background. Resubmission of application form is required, in case the applicant does not visit the Passport Seva Kendra within 90 days from the online form submission.

• Prerequisite step: Select RPO (Regional Passport Office) based on your current residing location. Selected RPO will reflect the nearest PSK (Passport Seva Kendras) during scheduling appointment.

• Please note you can select a different RPO each time you apply for a service. After RPO selection, the instructions page with the steps involved will load depending on the PSP Service you select steps for ‘Apply for Fresh Passport’ are as follows:

• Submit your completed application. An unique Application Reference Number (ARN) will be generated. You can also save your application at any point of time and resume later.

• Carefully validate the details before submitting the application. You will not be able to make changes to the application once it is submitted.

• After submission of the application, you must start the payment & schedule appointment process by clicking on View > Pay and Schedule Appointment button

• Prior payment of applicable Passport service fee has been made mandatory for booking appointments in all Passport Seva Kendras

• Use Schedule/Reschedule Appointment link to schedule/reschedule an appointment (if payment is already made or an appointment is already scheduled)

• Select Online Payment option, Select the ‘Appointment Quota’ (Normal/Tatkaal). Tatkaal option is available only to the applicants with Tatkaal application. Select the preferred Passport Seva Kendra (PSK)/Post Office Passport Seva Kendra (POPSK) for appointment booking. System will display the next available appointment date for the selected PSK/POPSK. After verifying the details, click the Pay and Book Appointment button to redirect to the payment gateway. Complete the payment process.

• After successful payment, applicant is redirected to the Passport Seva Online Portal. The Appointment Confirmation screen is displayed along with appointment details.

• Users can re-schedule appointments three times except in the case of tatkaal which is once.

• User will then receive an SMS on your registered mobile number with the details of the scheduled appointment date. Carry all the necessary documents during the visit of the PSK on the day of appointment.
